The Knowing
I’ll know he’s the one.
He’ll mirror my soul in every way.
Handsome in spirit,
Cocky in a Clark Gable kind of way.
Kisses me often and knows how.
Witty and funny.
I want my cheeks to hurt,
And not just from laughing.
I’ll know it’s him by the things he’ll say.
Blush like a schoolgirl on her first date.
The tones and melodies will play.
The day we go hand in hand.
He’ll be kind and angelic in the face.
He’ll be tolerant and forgiving.
The leather to my lace.
A heathen,
A rebel,
A fighter,
A passionate lover,
A gentleman,
And a heart that’s pure.
He’ll have moral integrity,
And considerate.
A Frank Sinatra type,
Flying me to the moon.
Can lift me,
Back against the wall.
Protective of his family and friends.
Vain, the word would never have occurred to him.
Confident but safe in his flaws,
Stable, Caring and True.
I’ll know he’s the one.
Because he will love to create,
Laugh, when I’m running late,
Encourage my lust for life.
Support my dreams.
Dance with me.
He’ll look at me with adoring eyes,
Thank God for my existence.
He’ll be knowledgeable too.
Hold an intellectual and spiritual, conversation.
Want to explore the world.
Like the finer things in life.
Holding firm to ideals like, “less is more.”
I’ll know.
Because we’ll share the same soul.
A mirror of me,
This is what I wait for!
